President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump kicked off the holiday season with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the White House Ellipse.

This year's 35-foot red spruce comes from Virginia's George Washington and Jefferson National Forest.

The National Christmas Tree will be open to the public beginning 6 December.
