A suspect is in custody after a shooting at a Kentucky State University (KSU) in the city of Frankfort, officials say.
"At this time, we are aware of some injuries," Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said. "We will share more information as available."
It is not yet clear how many people were injured, or if anyone was killed. The KSU campus was placed on lockdown following the reported attack on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said they responded to an incident involving "an active aggressor" on campus.
The governor confirmed that a suspect had been arrested and asked for prayers for those affected.
The Frankfort Police Department, KSU campus police and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting. In a post on Facebook, law enforcement said they "secured the campus and have a suspect in custody".
The university campus is just above 1,000 acres and has more than 2,200 students and 450 faculty and staff members, according to its website.
