Labrinth composed the music for the first two seasons of HBO's hit teen show Euphoria
Musician Labrinth has distanced himself from TV series Euphoria, for which he composes the music, and said he is "done with this industry".
The British star wrote the score and several songs for the first two series of the popular teen show. Last year, broadcast network HBO announced it had recruited Hans Zimmer as a composer for the forthcoming third season alongside him.
In a strongly-worded Instagram post on Friday, Labrinth criticised the show and Columbia Records, which releases the soundtrack, adding: "I'm out. Thank you and good night."
BBC News has asked representatives for Labrinth for further comment, and approached Columbia and HBO for a response.
It is not clear whether the music Labrinth composed for the forthcoming third season still features in it, or what has caused the rift between Labrinth and the show.
Last weekend, Labrinth appeared at Paris Fashion Week alongside Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, who teased footage from the show's new season.
Labrinth was praised for his work writing Euphoria's atmospheric score and also contributed songs to the series, including All For Us, which became a chart hit and won him an Emmy Award.
In July 2025, Labrinth welcomed Zimmer's involvement in the music for season three, commenting: "Another chapter in the Euphoria universe! So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season."
Zimmer praised him in return, writing in a statement at the time: "Labrinth's music has shaped the show's identity and I'm looking forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping shape this new season through music."
Launched in 2019, Euphoria followed the lives of a group of US teenagers, with storylines based on themes such as drugs, sex and identity.
It boosted or launched the careers of several young stars who went on to become major Hollywood names, such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer.
The eight-episode third series is set to launch on 12 April, with the plot set to include a time jump that will see its characters no longer in high school.
