President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet picks faced questioning from senators ahead of votes on their nominations.

Pam Bondi, Trump's former defence lawyer and his pick for US attorney general, avoided answering questions on claims of fraud in the 2020 election and was pushed on pardons for January 6 rioters.

Senator Marco Rubio also underwent a confirmation hearing for his nominated role of secretary of state. Rubio's proceedings were disrupted by protesters as well as the announcement of a ceasefire deal in the Israel-Gaza war.
