Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt believes Finn Russell is "capable of winning a game on his own", but stresses there are numerous threats his side will need to counter if they are to defeat Bath and reach the European Challenge Cup final.

Scotland fly-half Russell, 32, is the star attraction as the English Premiership leaders head to the Scottish capital in Saturday's semi-final (15:00 BST). Lyon meet Racing 92 in Sunday's semi (12:30).

And Everitt says coming up with a plan to limit Russell's influence is not easy.

"I suppose I'd be a master if we were able to contain a guy like that," Everitt said.

"It's important that you don't focus on one player. They've got threats across the board."

And Everitt added: "They've got pace in the back three. They've got 10 leading the attack. They've got Ben Spencer with a good kicking game. And then they've got a monstrous tight five.

"So for us, the challenges are around the field. We as a club can't afford to focus on one player. We do, however, know the threats that he might bring.

"And he's a world class player, as we know. So a tough assignment for us, but one that we're happy to be in. We're happy with the fact that there's only eight teams playing in Europe this weekend and we're one of them."

With a host of Scotland players in the Edinburgh ranks, Everitt believes that familiarity with Russell's game can be beneficial in trying to shut him down.

"Definitely they know him, they also respect him as a player," he added.

"They also know that he can win a game on his own, and so do we as coaches. It's how we cope with him defensively. He does run the attack.

"Having guys in the squad that know Finn and have trained with him on a number of occasions, to have that inside knowledge of Finn does help."
